New Delhi, July 17, 2025: In a landmark move to position India among the top 10 medal-winning nations at the 2036 Summer Olympics and Paralympics, Union Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya unveiled a comprehensive strategy during the Khelo Bharat Conclave 2025 held in New Delhi.
Addressing key stakeholders from the Indian Olympic Association, Paralympic Committee, National Sports Federations (NSFs), corporate leaders, and sports administrators, Dr. Mandaviya called for unity and ego-free collaboration to transform India into a global sporting powerhouse by 2047.

2036 Olympics Strategy Unveiled
The conclave revolved around India's roadmap for achieving Olympic excellence. Core discussions focused on:
- Sports Governance Reform: A new National Sports Governance Bill will be introduced in the upcoming Monsoon session of Parliament.
- Khelo Bharat Niti 2025: A long-term strategy built around athlete development, grassroots talent identification, and infrastructure enhancement.
- 'One Corporate One Sport' Initiative: A push for private sector partnership in sports development.
- Talent Development Pyramid: Starting from schools to elite Olympic training centres.
Performance-Based Support & Accountability
Dr. Mandaviya stressed the importance of good governance within sports bodies and urged NSFs to submit a five-year development plan by August 2025. He also proposed performance-based grants to ensure results-driven support to athletes and institutions.
“We not only want to win Olympic medals, but also make India a hub for global sporting events and boost sports tourism,” he added.
States, Schools & Corporates to Play Key Role
The Sports Ministry plans to sign MoUs with states, schools, and corporates to ensure alignment with national sports goals. Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Smt. Raksha Nikhil Khadse, said the policy reflects ground realities and aims to empower India’s youth through sports-led development.

The conclave concluded with a clear message: a united approach, grounded in execution, governance, and long-term vision, is essential to realizing India's Olympic dream and fostering a sporting culture by 2047.
