Empowering Grassroots with Inclusive Skilling Initiatives

In a major boost to grassroots skill development, Union Minister Shri Jayant Chaudhary inaugurated a state-of-the-art Skill Development Centre at Amal College of Advanced Studies, Nilambur. The center, built under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, is expected to serve as a game-changer for minority-concentration areas.

The center was developed at a cost of ₹7.92 crores and features advanced infrastructure, including dedicated laboratories, seminar halls, and innovation hubs. These facilities aim to enhance job-oriented training and provide opportunities for women and marginalized communities. Shri Chaudhary praised the center as a model of convergence between education and employability.

Launch of Future-Ready Courses

Shri Chaudhary also announced the launch of several new-age skill courses, including

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)

  • Medical Coding

  • Digital Literacy

  • Financial Literacy

These cutting-edge programs will be delivered by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and are designed to equip youth with relevant skills for a digital economy.

Celebrating a Decade of Transformation with Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS)

At the same event, Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS) Malappuram celebrated the 10th anniversary of the ministry through a vibrant Beneficiary Meet and Exhibition. Over 50,000 individuals have been impacted by JSS Malappuram's community-focused training programs.

Calling JSS a "beacon of hope," Shri Chaudhary highlighted its role in empowering artisans and rural communities, in alignment with the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047. He emphasized the need for small, nano, and micro enterprises to lead India's economic growth.

Innovative Community Programs by JSS Malappuram

JSS Malappuram stands out for its region-specific, people-centric programs:

  • VIDYA Initiative: Uses a talking pen to boost literacy among tribal communities, alongside food processing training and healthcare support.

  • ULLASAM – Job with Pleasure: Offers jobs and wellness support to widows, divorcees, and unmarried women above 40.

  • SPARSHAM: A special training initiative for the differently-abled, now linked to a self-run production unit supported by the district administration.

Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration and National Recognition

JSS Malappuram has partnered with local governments, NABARD, CSR partners, and academic institutions to maximize its impact. It has also played a crucial role in national schemes like DDUGKY, NULM, PMKVY, Nai Manzil, and Nai Roshni.

Since 2021, JSS has implemented an Integrated Tribal Development Programme with NABARD Kerala, benefiting 400 families. The organization is now planning an Integrated Coastal Development Programme in the coming year.

It has also been recognized for excellence, receiving the:

  • Sakshar Bharat Award (2014)

  • UNESCO Confucius Literacy Prize (2016)

  • Tagore Literacy Award (2017)

With a 98% grading score in 2021–22, JSS Malappuram is among the top-rated centers in India.

AI Literacy for Rural India

During the celebration, 1,800 certificates were distributed to JSS trainees and 300 to PM Vishwakarma scheme beneficiaries. A landmark moment was the launch of AI Literacy Modules for rural learners in collaboration with NASSCOM, a significant move to bridge India’s digital divide.

Towards an Inclusive and Skilled Bharat

The initiatives led by Shri Jayant Chaudhary reflect the government’s commitment to inclusive development and skill empowerment. From tribal hamlets to digital classrooms, these efforts are reshaping India’s skilling landscape.

As India marches toward Viksit Bharat 2047, models like JSS Malappuram and the Nilambur Skill Centre showcase how community-led innovation can drive national transformation.
