New Delhi, July 16, 2025— In a landmark event marking a decade of the Digital India initiative, the Common Service Centre (CSC) e-Governance Services India Ltd. celebrated CSC Diwas at Yashobhoomi Convention Centre, Dwarka, with key announcements by Union Ministers Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw and Shri Jitin Prasada.

Union Minister for Electronics & Information Technology, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, unveiled a major initiative to provide free Artificial Intelligence (AI) training to 10 lakh citizens, giving priority to Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs). “This initiative will empower people across villages to become digitally enabled and ready for the AI-driven future,” the minister said.

He also urged all VLEs to begin IRCTC services at their centers and assured efforts to integrate state IT agencies with CSC-SPV, enabling further expansion and efficiency of public services.

Highlighting CSC’s deep rural penetration, he said, “CSC has reached nearly 90% of India's villages. This is the only medium that can truly serve every corner of the country.”

Minister of State for Electronics & IT, Shri Jitin Prasada, emphasized the journey from 83,000 CSCs in 2014 to over 5.5 lakh centers today, calling it a revolution in digital empowerment. He also praised the role of over 74,000 women VLEs, who are transforming their communities.

The event also showcased success stories like that of VLE Rose Angelina from East West Khasi Hills, Meghalaya, who brought digital services to remote hilly villages, becoming a model of community empowerment.

Managing Director & CEO of CSC SPV, Shri Sanjay Rakesh, highlighted how CSCs have eliminated the need for citizens to travel to cities for services, offering government and business services at the doorstep of rural India.

CSC Diwas was celebrated nationwide, with state-level IT Secretaries gathering at Bharat Mandapam on July 15 to discuss the future of rural e-governance and CSC’s role in bridging the digital divide. Top-performing VLEs were also felicitated.

The Digital India program, launched by PM Narendra Modi in 2015, has revolutionized governance and inclusion, making India the world’s third-largest digital economy.
