Illegal Arms Manufacturing Unit Busted on Agartala Outskirts, One Arrested
Agartala, 14 January: Tripura Police on Tuesday night busted an illegal arms manufacturing unit operating on the outskirts of Agartala, leading to the arrest of one person.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a police team conducted a raid in the Hapania–Amtali area, where an illicit arms-making setup was allegedly running from a residential premises. During the operation, police seized live cartridges, empty cartridge cases, and tools suspected to be used for manufacturing firearms.
The accused, identified as Balbir Singh, was arrested from the spot. Police sources said the unit was operating illegally within a populated area, posing a serious threat to public safety.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Arms Act, and further investigation is underway to determine whether the accused has links to any wider criminal network or if the weapons were supplied to others.
Police officials stated that the seized materials will be sent for forensic examination, and the accused will be produced before the court as per legal procedure.
