Agartala, 16 January: Students of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (JMC), Tripura University, raised ₹20,000 to support Mr. Kashiram Tripura and his family, who sustained severe burn injuries in a fire accident in Dhalai district.
The incident occurred at Karna Kishore Para under Dumburnagar, where a gas cylinder reportedly caught fire during dinner, completely destroying the family’s bamboo house. Several members of the family are currently undergoing treatment at AGMC & GB Hospital, Agartala.
Following an appeal circulated on social media, JMC students initiated a voluntary fundraising drive within the university campus. Faculty members, students, and staff contributed to the effort. The collected amount was later handed over to the affected family to assist with urgent medical expenses.
Faculty members and students described the initiative as a reflection of social responsibility and solidarity, highlighting the proactive role of students during times of crisis.
