Agartala, September 19, 2026: A delegation of the TIPRA Motha Party, led by MDC and Youth TIPRA Federation (YTF) President Suraj Debbarma, visited the Tripura State Election Commission at Gorkhabasti on Saturday and submitted a complaint regarding the circulation of an allegedly fake and doctored video on social media.
The complaint was signed by TIPRA Motha General Secretary Brishaketu Debbarma. According to the party, the circulated video combines footage from a peaceful TIPRA Motha election campaign march with audio taken from an unrelated protest.
The party alleged that the edited video creates a false impression that provocative slogans targeting particular communities were raised during its campaign programs. TIPRA Motha has urged the SEC to investigate the source of the video and take appropriate action.
The party also requested coordination with law enforcement and cybercrime authorities for removal or blocking of the allegedly manipulated content and submitted digital evidence, including original campaign footage, source audio, social media links, and screenshots.
