Agartala, September 20, 2026: Heavy rainfall failed to dampen the enthusiasm of thousands of runners as the 3rd edition of The Golden Run – City Marathon 2026, presented by Swarnakamal Jewellers, brought more than 5,000 participants to the streets of Agartala on Sunday.
The marathon began at the Umakanta Academy School Ground and concluded at Albert Ekka War Memorial Park. According to the organisers, more than 7,000 participants registered online, while over 5,000 runners took part in the event.
Runners from Assam, West Bengal, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, along with participants from different parts of Tripura, joined the marathon. The strong turnout continued despite persistent rainfall during the event.
Participants from different age groups took part, including young runners, women, men and senior citizens. The event highlighted the growing interest in running and fitness activities while also creating an opportunity for community participation.
The marathon featured separate male, female and senior citizen categories. According to the organisers, the total prize money was ₹1.05 lakh, with ₹35,000 allocated to each category.
The Golden Run City Marathon 2026 brought together runners from Tripura and other parts of the country, turning Agartala into a major sporting gathering for the day and promoting fitness, healthy living and community spirit.
