Agartala, June 19: The Twipra Students' Federation (TSF) has announced a protest demonstration on June 24 at Circuit House, Agartala, pressing for the immediate filling of Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) backlog vacancies and official recognition of the Roman script for Kokborok.
According to a poster released by the student body, the protest will begin at 11:00 AM. TSF has demanded a special recruitment drive to fill long-pending SC/ST backlog posts across government departments. The organization also reiterated its demand for the printing of Kokborok textbooks in Roman script, a long-standing issue among sections of the indigenous community.
The federation stated that the demonstration aims to highlight concerns over employment opportunities for reserved category candidates and the need to address language-related issues affecting Kokborok-speaking students.
TSF has called upon students, youth, and community members to participate in the protest, emphasizing the themes of justice, identity, and rights.
The June 24 agitation is expected to draw attention to two of the most debated issues in Tripura's tribal socio-political landscape—reservation backlog vacancies and the script used for Kokborok language education.
