Agartala, June 18, 2026: The Central Committee of the Tribal Students' Union (TSU) submitted a six-point memorandum to TTAADC Executive Member for Education, C.K. Jamatia, on Thursday, urging immediate action on various education-related issues affecting students in ADC areas.

The memorandum highlighted the following demands:

  1. Address Teacher Shortage: Recruit additional teachers in TTAADC-run schools where only a single teacher is currently serving, and take necessary measures to resolve the ongoing teacher crisis.
  2. Establish Teacher Training Institutions: Open D.El.Ed and B.Ed colleges under TTAADC to provide teacher education opportunities for students from tribal areas.
  3. Introduce Postgraduate Courses: Start postgraduate (PG) courses in Kokborok, Bengali, and English at Khumulwng Degree College.
  4. Launch Student Bus Services: Introduce dedicated bus services for students on the routes
    • Agartala–Khumulwng
    • Madai–Khumulwng via Champaknagar
    • Takarjala–Khumulwng
  5. Construct Boys' Hostels: Establish boys' hostels for colleges located in the Khumulwng area to accommodate students from distant locations.
  6. Set Up New Colleges: Establish new colleges in Jampuijala and Madwi to expand access to higher education in the region.

TSU leaders stated that these demands are aimed at improving educational infrastructure, accessibility, and opportunities for students living in TTAADC-administered areas. They urged the Education Executive Member to take prompt steps toward fulfilling the demands.
