Agartala, August 12, 2026: The Tripura Cabinet has decided to allot 2.5 gandas of land in Agartala to Commonwealth Games gold medallist Asmita Dey in recognition of her historic sporting achievement.

Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury announced the decision following the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

The state government will also bear the allotment premium of ₹33,50,239 for the land, according to the Cabinet decision.

Asmita Dey recently created history by winning a gold medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, becoming the first Indian judoka to win a Commonwealth Games gold medal.

The state government’s decision comes as recognition of her achievement and contribution to bringing national and international attention to Tripura’s sporting talent.

Asmita was also welcomed in Agartala following her return to the state after her historic Commonwealth Games victory.
