Dharmanagar, Feb 20: A total of 45 brick kiln workers and local residents received free medical check-ups and medicines at a speciaal health and awareness camp held at Balichhara brick kiln in North Tripura on Thursday.
The camp was organised by the Balichhara Sub-Centre under the Shanichhara Primary Health Centre (P.II.C) with the aim of delivering doorstep healthcare services to underprivileged labourers and nearby villagers.
According to officials, 45 patients—including men, women and children—availed services during the camp. Of them, 37 underwent haemoglobin (HB) tests, 21 were screened for blood sugar levels, and 26 had their blood pressure checked. Necessary medicines were distributed free of cost.
The medical team was led by Community Health Officer Sushmita Das, assisted by Multi-Purpose Worker Rilbulchim Ranglong and local ASHA workers.
Apart from clinical services, an awareness session was conducted focusing on anaemia prevention among women and children, malaria control through mosquito net usage and elimination of stagnant water, management of non-communicable diseases such as hypertension and diabetes, and the importance of hygiene and nutrition.
Local residents and workers appreciated the initiative. Health authorities stated that similar outreach camps will continue in the coming days to strengthen grassroots healthcare delivery in remote areas.
