Udaipur, Feb 27: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has sounded the bugle early for the 2028 Tripura Assembly elections, with state president and MP Rajib Bhattacharjee expressing firm confidence that the party will retain power. He asserted that no political force in the state is strong enough to halt the BJP’s march to victory.

Bhattacharjee was addressing a one-day special convention of page pramukhs at Chandrapur Balika Vidyalaya ground under the Mata Bari Assembly constituency in Udaipur on Friday. He claimed that since 2018, opposition parties have steadily lost their organisational footing. Without naming them directly, he remarked that the Left and the Congress are nearing political irrelevance.

Citing the Rose Valley chit fund scam, he said the people of Tripura are well aware of past controversies and have repeatedly endorsed a development-focused government.

The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Bhattacharjee. The programme was attended by local MLA Abhishek Debroy, BJP general secretary Uttam Deb, Gomati district BJP president Sabita Nag, MDC Samrat Jamatia, and page pramukhs from 63 booths under the constituency, along with party leaders and elected representatives.

MLA Abhishek Debroy underlined the importance of strengthening the party at the grassroots level. Describing page pramukhs as the backbone of the organisation, he urged them to maintain regular contact with voters. He advised each worker to visit at least five households daily, listen to grievances, and convey concerns to the leadership, stating that direct public engagement will be key to success in 2028.

Speakers at the convention emphasised boosting booth-level activities, expanding organisational outreach, and uniting all sections of society under the party’s banner. Bhattacharjee called on party workers to remain united and committed to sustaining the pace of development while reinforcing public trust.

The day-long convention saw enthusiastic participation from party cadres, who reaffirmed their resolve to strengthen the organisation ahead of the next Assembly elections.
